Planetary Carbon Standard (PCS) v2.0 — Public Consultation
Status and purpose. The Planetary Carbon Standard (PCS) v2.0 documentation suite is being published as draft material for public consultation. These documents are released to solicit feedback from stakeholders and the wider public and do not represent the final, approved PCS v2.0 Standard.
Non-final content; subject to change. All content is work-in-progress and may be revised, expanded, reorganized, or withdrawn at any time during the consultation period and subsequent corrective action process. After the public comment process is completed and corrective actions are implemented, the PCS Secretariat will issue a final, version-controlled release. At that point, the documentation will be locked and used as the authoritative basis for PCS v2.0 implementation.
Version control and authoritative text. PCS v2.0 documentation is version controlled. Users should reference the document code, version number, and publication date shown in each document. In case of inconsistencies across drafts, updates, or website content, the latest published version will be considered the most current draft at the time of access, and the final locked release will supersede all prior drafts.
No reliance; no guarantees. Draft materials are provided “as is” for consultation. PCS makes no representations or warranties (express or implied) regarding accuracy, completeness, fitness for purpose, or continued availability. Users should not rely on draft content for compliance decisions, investment decisions, procurement, project design finalization, or claims of PCS alignment.
No legal, financial, or regulatory advice. Nothing in the PCS v2.0 draft documentation constitutes legal, financial, tax, or regulatory advice. Stakeholders and users should obtain independent professional advice appropriate to their circumstances and jurisdiction.
Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PCS, its Secretariat, governance bodies, contributors, and reviewers accept no liability for any loss, damage, cost, or expense arising from the use of, or reliance on, these draft materials or any associated discussions, interpretations, or outputs.
Public comments and use of feedback. By submitting comments, contributors acknowledge that their feedback may be used to improve PCS v2.0 and may be incorporated—wholly or in part—into updated drafts or the final release. PCS may summarize consultation inputs and responses. Do not submit confidential or proprietary information that you are not authorized to share publicly.
Intellectual property. PCS documentation and related materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, all rights are reserved. Any permitted reuse must include appropriate attribution and must not imply PCS endorsement or approval of third-party materials.
Effective use. Only final, approved, and locked PCS v2.0 documents (once published) may be cited as authoritative PCS requirements for program participation, project registration, validation/verification, or issuance activities.
